Somatic Personal Coaching

What Personal Somatic Coaching is All About

Clients seek personal somatic coaching for individual growth, healing, and transformation. The focus is rooted in the client’s whole life (relationships, well-being, health, intimacy, creativity, and self-expression). While work may be explored, it’s secondary to personal development. Coaching leads to transformational outcomes for one’s own life, relationships, place in community, and inner growth. Clients develop presence, authenticity, freedom from old patterns, and alignment with personal values and goals.

With personal somatic coaching, I am sometimes asked to connect with or collaborate with a mental health therapist, wellness professional, spouse, or family member in support of your goals. Sometimes, couples or family members seek personal somatic coaching together to support the quality of their relationships.

Personal Coaching FAQs

  • Therapy is about diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, and often centers on pathology. Coaching focuses on possibility, growth, and the future.

    • Therapists often analyze patterns through a clinical lens.

    • Coaches share observations and reflections while centering the client’s perspective and goals.

    • Both may explore past experiences, emotions, and patterns, and both can support future goals—just in different ways.

Coaching and counseling can complement one another. Many clients work with both a therapist and a coach, either in parallel or collaboratively. Since I was trained as a therapist, that background informs my coaching, though the roles remain distinct.

If you’re unsure whether therapy, coaching, or both would be best for you, I invite you to schedule a complimentary 15-minute clarity call.

  • Both approaches bring awareness to the body and nervous system:

    • Somatic therapy often focuses on trauma resolution and soothing survival responses.

    • Somatic coaching may also touch on healing, but goes further to build capacity for growth, aliveness, and presence. It emphasizes transformation, not just regulation.

In my coaching, I guide clients through somatic awareness, opening, and practice—so you can reshape conditioned tendencies (in body, thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors), increase emotional capacity, and feel more grounded and alive.

  • Somatic Coaching supports personal growth, leadership, and life alignment. We integrate body awareness into goal-setting and behavior change using practices like centering, grounding, and movement to build presence, resilience, and choice.

  • Not at all. The most powerful sessions often weave together coaching, bodywork, and somatic practice.

    • In-person sessions often emphasize bodywork.

    • Online sessions adapt well to coaching and practices, with bodywork techniques you can learn to do for yourself.

    • A bodywork-focused session usually begins with 20–30 minutes of dialogue and coaching, followed by about an hour of bodywork. A coaching-focused session is often the reverse.

  • Yes. I’ve been teaching meditation and mindfulness for decades. These practices are inherently somatic.

Many people believe they “can’t meditate,” but this usually comes from unrealistic expectations or a lack of guidance. True meditation is not about forcing calm or pushing discomfort away—it’s about allowing presence.

I help clients build a strong, embodied meditation practice rooted in purpose and principle, rather than “McMindfulness.” Apps like Calm can be supportive, but they don’t replace deep guidance and integration.

  • Somatic coaching is offered in single sessions, or in 3-session or 10-session packages.

A single session provides an impactful experience, and three sessions allow for more embodied benefit from building somatic awareness, learning and working with somatic practices, and experiencing somatic opening.

Scheduling a single session is also appropriate for established clients who have completed a package and are looking for a one-time follow-up.

After three sessions, you should have direct experience known in your body about the value somatic coaching brings.

If you just want to get a taste of what somatic coaching is, you can start with a single session. If you would like to experience the foundations of somatic coaching: somatic awareness, somatic opening, and the value of somatic practice, a 3-session package may be for you. This also provides a 10 percent savings over individual session purchase.

Choose a 10-session package when you have experienced a single session or 3-session package and clearly know the benefits. A longer term commitment through a 10-session package is appropriate when you are seeking longer-term shift. A 20 percent savings comes with a 10-session package as well.

Sessions are paid for in advance and are for 75 minutes plus a 15 minute buffer (your calendar appointment will be for 90 minutes accordingly).

    Packages for Personal Somatic Coaching

    • 3-pack of 90-minute sessions (virtual or in-person) is $500. Expires 2 months from purchase date and saves $55 off single session pricing. A three-session package gives you a FOUNDATIONAL experience of somatic coaching over a two-month period.

    • 10-pack of 90-minute sessions is $1,500 (virtual or in-person), Expires 6 months from purchase date and saves $350 off of single session pricing. A 10-session package gives you a DEVELOPMENTAL ARC experience of somatic coaching over a 6-month period. With this package you will see a transformational shift in your soma that will result in changes in your soma and your life.

  • I intentionally do not offer 60 minute sessions because I prefer to do depth-oriented work with deeper value. Allowing 75-90 minutes is what I have found produces the best results and value for clients. If a client chooses to, or needs to shorten a session to an hour once in a while, I can accommodate that as an exception. The price remains the same.

  • People choose a single session when they want to dip their toes in the water and “try out” somatic coaching when they want to know what it is through an experience.

They commit to a package when they are looking for savings and a more solid understanding of the benefits of somatic coaching. A three-session package provides a solid knowing of the benefits of somatic coaching and the client learns a few foundational practices to support embodied being. In three sessions, they build some somatic awareness, learn and benefit from foundational somatic practice, and usually have at least one somatic opening.

A 10-session package allows for a shift in “shape” and the cultivation of new embodied competencies. Clients see a difference in their lives and the way they organize to meet challenge- they are more responsive rather than reactive, and there are impacts on their goals and what they care about.

Choose your package accordingly, depending on what you are ready for.

  • I have a 24-hour cancellation policy unless there is an emergency, which we determine together. With at least 24 hours’ notice, sessions can be rescheduled. Sessions missed with no notice or canceled in less than 24 hours are not refundable or reschedulable.

Location and Access for Coaching Sessions

In-person coaching sessions are generally conducted in an office on the second floor of my home in a beautiful, tree-lined neighborhood. There is an area for sitting together and talking, as well as an area with a massage table. There is a bathroom on the same floor. We may also use my backyard garden, the large park next door, or my living room with vaulted ceilings (for movement practices). 5 minutes away, we also have access to a state-of-the-art conference facility and two mirrored dance fitness rooms.

My house has 2 steps leading to the front door and an ADA handrail. Please let me know if there are any access needs I can support you with. I do have a stairlift that can be used, and advance access must be requested to ensure it is ready for use.

My dog Emmett enjoys attending sessions (with consent), to cuddle on laps or sit beneath the massage table. He believes he is a therapy dog and takes the job seriously!

Virtual sessions are conducted on Zoom, and a link is provided prior to the session.
